Your Health
The most valuable possession we have is our health, and yet few people realize it until it is lost. Good health is not simply the absence of disease but it is a state of genuine well being. Good nutrition plays a key role in good health maintenance. The human body can never be any better than the foods provided to strengthen and maintain it. Most painful, degenerative conditions are due to poor habits of lifestyle and diets, which are deficient in essential nutrients. Please continue reading for an idea of the different therapies offered at Body Awareness!
Ionic Foot Detox
The Ionic Cleanse Detox Machine is a high-tech water detoxification system that facilitates the body's ability to heal itself. Simply put your feet in the water, turn on the machine, and within seconds millions of negatively charged ions enter your body and attach to toxins which are positively charged. Massage Therapy
Massage or the "laying of hands", involves various techniques of working with the body therapeutically. Massage is touch, rhythm, and the manipulation of muscles using a variety os strokes, pressures, and stretches. It involves a number of commonly recognized techniques for relaxation, especially breathing.

Massage is a form of therapy because it integrates our physical, mental, and sometimes, spiritual focus into the moment. It helps to increase circulation, thereby flushing tissue with new oxygenated blood. Massage also assists in release toxins such as lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic waste products caught in the tightened muscles. Massage reduces the occurrence of muscle spasm and promotes pliability of scar tissue.

Some individuals suffering from deep muscular pain, arthritis, or limitations in range of motion may prefer deep tissue work. This type of work involves greater intensity of sensation and is designed to focus on the release of tension in specific "trigger" points.
Nutrition Therapy

Lots of people can benefit from working with a nutritionist, for many different reasons- whether yo unwed a complete diet overhaul, are looking to manage a medical condition, want to fine-tune your food choices, or get inspiration for new, healthy recipes. It's best to book a nutrition consultation after a check-up with your primary care provider. That can help inform whether you have a specific condition that can be addressed with nutrition, such as elevated blood sugar or cholesterol, or blood pressure issues.

While patients come in for a nutrition consultation to learn more about how their food choices affect their health, others end up in my office at their doctor's suggestion. The following are just a few of the conditions that can benefit specifically from dietary interventions:
-
Heart disease
-
High blood pressure
-
High choleserol

-

At your first appointment, I will ask you about your goals, objectives, and reasons for wanting to see a nutritionist. We'll review your medical history, including any mediations and supplements you're currently taking. Then we'll delve into your lifestyle to get a sense of your stress levels, sleep patterns, energy levels, exercise, and gastrointestinal function. It will be helpful for you to write down everything you ate in the 24 hours prior to the appointment. With that guidance, we can begin to discuss your dietary preferences and cooking habits, and identify trouble spots, like skipping breakfast or late-night snacking. From there, we'll develop some initial pointers to help you start eating healthier.

Most clients come in for two to three sessions. If you're ready to learn and incorporate some simple changes into your diet and lifestyle, that's often enough to set you on the right course. But some people like the accountability of setting up monthly consults until they feel in control of and comfortable with their new habits.

Depending on where you live, the out-of-pocket cost for a nutrition counseling sessions runs $75 per session. Nutrition consoling can be a very cost-effective investment in your long-term health. If better nutrition enables you to lower your blood pressure or get your weight back in check, it can potentially save you thousands of dollars in medications and other medical expenses own the road.

I strive to make nutritional counseling as enjoyable and helpful as possible. There are only 2 licensed nutritionist in the entire state of Florida. I have had my license since 1988 and have had to complete 30 more hours of CEU's each year. My goal is to help you create an indiviual action plan to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
